Jay & Nancy Ricker founded Ricker Oil Company, Inc. in 1979 in Middletown, Indiana. Jay drove a tank
wagon and Nancy managed the book out of their home. Jay had previously worked for Shell Oil Company
for seven years.
The first convenience store was purchased in 1989 in Middletown, Indiana. As the company grew and expanded, the headquarters relocated to Anderson, Indiana. After moving into the new corporate office location in 2003, the company remodeled the office into a laundromat and in the spring of 2004, Ricker's City Laundry opened, followed by a second laundromat in the Ft. Wayne market.

Jay & Nancy Ricker are extremely involved in the Anderson and Madison County community.
Jay serves on the boards of Community Hospital and
the Community Foundation. Jay is also the past president
of the Chamber of Commerce and past chair of the
Anderson Community Hospital board. Nancy is the president of the local
Habitat for Humanity affiliate and serves on
the board of the Anderson Symphony Orchestra. Jay
and Nancy are also extremely involved in the convenience store trade association, serving as
chairperson of various committees and on various boards as well as with BP and Marathon. Alternatives, Inc. is a project that Ricker Oil Company, Inc. became involved in this past year through its Safe Harbor Program. There are eight Anderson Ricker's involved in this program. Additionally, our corporate staff has been involved in donating supplies and items to Alternatives for the past several years as a commitment and belief in the program.
Ricker's is well-known in the central Indiana region for its "Ricker Pop" fountain sales, clean stores, and friendly environment and staff.
The Ricker's marketing department buys for a co-op of 55 locations, including stores for Ricker Oil Company, Inc., Dawson Oil Company, Inc., Johnson's Junction, Bob-a-Lou's, Midland Co-op, S & S Oil (22 stores), and HRF Amoco.
